Joe, it is really sad. So many people lost so much and so little. I and my wife have tried to help in any manner possible. Can't wait to see where this blog takes you "academically".
Thankyou for your response Dr. Miller, my spouse's family has a friend Evon who has extended family that lives in Haiti that we are very much concerned about. The Porta-Prince's police chief has a brother who lives here in Utah also, which brings this disaster really close up to home.
I would like to greet you and let you know that this is a great opportunity for myself in setting this site up and hopefully for you to visit my blog. My interest is currently history and I do have a very small collection of history books. One text is entitled American Heritage: New History Of World War 11, revised and updated by Stephen E. Ambrose. I have fun book titled Masters of the Battlefield by Major General Julian Thompson 2007 Carlton Books. This book has 30 foldout battle maps with commentaries on each commander's greatest victory. The battles include Julius Caesar's win against the Gauls at the Seige of Alesia, Collins brilliant control over Operation Cobra, or General Giap's win over the South Vietnamese when he feigned an advance toward a commanders headquarters in the central highlands, to lure troops out of a city, which he then captured and then he blitzed the South Vietnamese troops before they could rally, leading to the capture of Saigon in less than two months.

ReplyDeleteVery sad. I took my kids to do some community service on Monday. We helped put together kits to send to Haiti.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great thing to discuss in class as a current event.
